4. SMS/Text Messaging Privacy
Providing a mobile number or submitting the registration form does not, by itself, start OstoRecovery text messages. If you choose to provide SMS consent, we may require you to confirm enrollment by replying YES to an initial confirmation text before recurring program messages begin.
Message frequency varies. During the 30-day program, you should generally expect about one scheduled education message per day, plus possible replies to your messages, safety-related guidance, HELP/STOP confirmations, and other service-related messages.
Message and data rates may apply.
You can opt out by replying STOP. You can request help by replying HELP or by contacting us through our Contact Us page.
SMS is not a fully secure communication channel. Text messages may be visible to anyone with access to your phone, phone account, backups, notifications, carrier records, or connected devices. You should not send information by text that you are not comfortable sending through SMS.
We may use service providers, such as messaging platforms and mobile carriers, to send and receive messages. These providers process message-related information only as needed to provide messaging services to us.
We do not share your mobile information, SMS opt-in information, or SMS consent information with third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes.
5. Use of Automated Systems and AI
OstoRecovery may use automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to help operate the Service.
These systems may help:
- Classify messages.
- Identify the general type of educational guidance that may be relevant.
- Extract clearly stated facts from participant messages.
- Select approved educational content.
- Identify possible safety-related concerns.
- Select approved safety or resource guidance when appropriate.
- Rephrase approved content into a participant-facing response.
- Review responses for quality and safety.
- Maintain conversation continuity.
Automated systems and AI do not replace medical professionals. They are not authorized to diagnose, treat, prescribe, monitor your health, or make medical decisions.
6. MeetAnOstoMate and Product-Related Information
OstoRecovery is provided by MeetAnOstoMate.org and operated by JDBS.
If product-related educational information is provided, we may use your program context and messages to decide whether approved educational content, manufacturer resources, or support resources may be relevant.
Product-related information is not neutral across all manufacturers and is not a medical recommendation. It may include manufacturer categories, support programs, or related third-party resources.
We do not sell your personal information to manufacturers, resource providers, or other organizations.
We will not share identifiable participant message content with third parties for their independent marketing unless we disclose that separately and obtain any required consent.
7. How We Share Information
We may share information only as described in this Privacy Policy.
7.1 Service Providers
We may share information with service providers that help us operate the Service, such as hosting providers, database providers, messaging providers, security providers, analytics providers, and AI or automation providers. These service providers may process information only as needed to provide services to us or as otherwise permitted by their agreements with us.
7.2 Messaging Providers and Mobile Carriers
To send and receive text messages, we may share message-related information with messaging providers and mobile carriers. This may include your mobile number, message content, delivery status, timestamps, and related technical information.
7.3 Program Improvement and Reporting
We may share aggregated, statistical, or de-identified information with service providers or business partners that help evaluate the Service, improve the program, and understand program use.
We do not share identifiable participant message content with third parties for their independent marketing unless we disclose that separately and obtain any required consent.
7.4 Legal, Safety, and Compliance Reasons
We may use or disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to legal requests, enforce our terms, protect rights or safety, prevent misuse, investigate fraud or abuse, or meet carrier, messaging, audit, or compliance requirements.
7.5 Business Transfers
If all or part of OstoRecovery, JDBS, or related assets are sold, transferred, reorganized, or merged, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or any replacement policy provided to you.
8. No Sale of Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number, SMS opt-in data, or SMS consent information with third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes.
We do not sell consumer health information.
9. Advertising, Analytics, and Tracking
We may use basic analytics or technical tools to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
We do not use your SMS opt-in information or message content for third-party advertising.
We do not use advertising pixels, retargeting tools, or advertising analytics on registration pages, confirmation pages, SMS-linked pages, or pages that reveal participation in OstoRecovery or consumer health information.
10. Retention
We may retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain records, honor opt-out choices, comply with legal and carrier requirements, resolve disputes, improve safety and reliability, and protect the Service.
Because OstoRecovery involves health-related education and safety boundaries, we may retain message history, consent records, safety-related records, audit records, and delivery records for operational, compliance, and legal purposes.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the Service and the information we process. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, technical failure, or disclosure will never occur.
SMS is not a fully secure communication channel. Text messages may be visible to anyone with access to your phone, phone account, backups, notifications, carrier records, or connected devices.
12. Your Choices
You can choose not to register for OstoRecovery.
You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP. After you opt out, we may send one final confirmation message confirming that your opt-out has been processed.
You can request help by replying HELP or by contacting us through our Contact Us page.
You may also contact us to ask questions about your information or request changes, subject to legal, security, verification, and operational requirements.
13. Children
OstoRecovery is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us.
If the Service is used by or for a minor, a parent, guardian, or legally authorized caregiver should be involved as required by applicable law and program rules.
14. U.S. State Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have certain privacy rights under applicable law. These may include the right to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or information about certain uses or disclosures of personal information.
Some states have laws that apply to consumer health information even when federal health privacy laws do not apply. If such laws apply to your information, we will handle requests as required by applicable law.
To make a privacy request, contact us through our Contact Us page. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
15. International Users
OstoRecovery is operated from Canada and may use service providers located in the United States, Canada, or other countries. By using the Service, you understand that information may be processed in countries where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date.
If changes are material, we may provide additional notice, such as through the website, email, or text message where appropriate.
